Horny goat weed is a herb that derives from the Epimedium species of flowering plant and is typically endemic to China. The Epimedium plant is a leafy, flowering plant its leaves contain several key nutrients called flavonoids, as well as polysaccharides, sterols, and an alkaloid called Magna Florine that all may hold the secret to Horny Goat Weed. 

One of the flavonoids icariin, is believed to play a large role in the sex-boosting effects of the plant, which is used to restore sexual fire, boost erectile function, allay fatigue, and alleviate menopausal discomfort. For men, Icariin, is known to block a protein associated with erectile dysfunction known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). Under normal circumstances, the body naturally suppresses PDE5 levels but in men with erectile dysfunction, this doesn’t happen.
